Mancala
A classic African game where you move stones around a board to capture your opponent's pieces.
Rules
- Object of the game:
Take turns moving the stones from your pockets/cells. Whoever has the most stone in their pits at the end of the game wins!
- Your turn:
Pick up the stones from your pockets. Moving counterclockwise, you'll drop a stone into each pocket you pass until you run out.
- To the pit:
You also drop a stone every time you pass your pit. Every stone in your pit counts as one point.
- Free turn!
When the last stone in your hand lands in your pit, you get a free turn!
- How to capture:
If the last stone you drop lands in one of your empty pockets, move that stone and any on the opposite side into your pit.
- Ending the game:
The game is over when one of the players empties all their pockets.
- Remaining stones:
If your opponent's pockets are empty, the remaining stones on your side go straight to your pit!
Tips and Tricks
- Avoid capture:
Be on the lookout for any empty pockets across from yours.
- Store up your turns:
Leave one stone in the pocket right next to your pit and use it to get a free turn.
